Our rationale
In today’s economy, human resource or human capital is considered as the primary asset to any organization. We are in the era of globalization and k-economy where human capital is viewed as crucial success factor to an organization. As such, the role of human resource management has elevated from a mere operational function to a strategic business function. In view of this, the human resource department has to now play a strategic role in the development and growth of the company. Human resources can become a strategic business partner by:

  • Identifying and partnering to support strategic projects
  • Contributing to the formation of business strategies
  • Initiating contact with leaders to discuss business goals
  • Serving on high-visibility projects that are important to business leaders
  • Building credibility by evidencing deep knowledge of the business
  • Asking the questions that expand the thinking of clients

The HR department must have an HR function that can support all three kinds of work: transactional, tactical and strategic. Transactional functions include quick turnaround tasks that must be done effectively. Human resources can sometimes outsource such functions through an electronic supplier or a shared services group. Tactical work performed by human resources includes the design, purchase and / or implementation of solutions. These functions focus on huge groups of employees and utilize extensive resources. The current trend in tactical work is via outsourcing. Strategic work is long term in scope and is focused on departments. Normally strategic work requires three to five year solutions to be implemented. Such work reinforces the view that HR should be putting resources into the “important, not just the urgent.” As organizations become more specialized, fine-tuning their offerings and markets, they are less willing to divert talent and capital to non-core activities. Regardless of the function involved, outsourcing will work as it enables companies to:

  • Obtain the expertise of specialists who can keep the company current on compliance issues, offer best-practice advice and help improve operations and service;
  • Enjoy scalability by transforming a fixed cost into a variable cost and buying only the time and services that is needed, when they are needed;
  • Eliminate the cost of purchasing, updating and maintaining in-house systems;
  • Improve business processes and the quality of the company’s offerings;
  • Remove distractions and focus on the activities central to the company’s missions; and
  • Obtain strategic advice from long-term partners who will be accountable for savings
